Brat Chat Help
Rules and Regulations:
There are very few rules for using the Brat Chat page.

  • Keep in mind that Brat Chat is an online community place. Community standards should apply.

  • The second rule is to have fun and to remember, once a Military Brat, always a Military Brat!

Logging In:
The Brat Chat system requires you to log in using either your name or a nickname (or handle). You will also need a password that is at least five characters and numbers. Write down your Nickname and Password. Lost names and passwords cannot be retrieved. You can of course, select a new nickname and password.

Display:
The chat display has three parts. Below the Brat Chat graphic is the message box, where you will type your message and five buttons: Post, More, Private, Clear, Leave.

Along the left in the grey box area is the User List which displays the current users who are logged in below is the message display where private messages sent to you are displayed.

On the right in the light yellow area is where the public messages appear, with a dividing line between users.

Sending Chat Messages:
The Brat Chat page will update with new messages only when you send a chat message or use the More button.

If you are not interested in chatting, but want to follow what others are saying, you will have to click on the More button every few seconds. (More about this below).

  • Post -To send a public message, type the message in the text box and hit the Post button. If you don't type a message, but click on the button, it will work the same as the clicking on the More button.

  • More - To just view new messages since your last reload, hit the "More" button. If you have text in the text box, it will still be there after you load the page.

  • Private - To send someone a private message, click on the Private button first. Next, type your message in the message box, and then click on the button that matches the person you want to send the private message to. Your message will show up on their Private Message display on the left, and will also show up on your display.

  • Clear - If you type a message and decide not to send it, click on the Clear button and all text in the message box will be deleted.

  • Leave - To exit the chat, hit the Leavebutton. Please use this button to leave, otherwise you will remain logged in and others will think you are still online.

If you came to this page from Brat Chat, simply close this window. The Brat Chat window should still be below. You may also click here to go back to Brat Chat, but you will have to log in again.

" . . . Bringing lumps to our throats and tears stinging our eyes was the American flag waving proudly in the cool breeze among beautiful blue skies atop the Arsenal Arch when 50 alumni, friends and family gathered in Rochefort for our reunion and return to the city recognizing the 40th anniversary of the closing of Rochefort AHS!"
