Whether you have just found the Sound Off! message boards or have been a long-time member, please consider our NEW website, Military Brats Online.

The new website has been getting rave reviews from everyone--it's a real online community and much closer to the original vision I had for bringing Military Brats together.

Military Brats Online has discussion groups and personal blogs, your own photo gallery, private messages, Chat room and MANY other exciting features, including advanced searching so it's easy to find fellow Military Brats.

But what about Sound Off!--Will it remain available?
The Sound Off! message boards will remain active for a while, but will be archived later this year. We have not been able to integrate the Sound Off! system into the new website as the two website systems are not compatible.

Once you join Military Brats Online, you can go to "groups" and copy over as many of your discussion messages as you would like and keep the discussion threads going. Remember, your user ID and password for Sound Off! will NOT automatically work on the new website. You will need to sign up on Military Brats Online and create a new profile.

While Sound Off! has been very popular with many Military Brats, it has been a very limited message board system and the new website will offer far more features for re-connecting. I believe you will see that in the long run, the new website is a huge improvement and it is highly interactive.

I am truly sorry for any inconvenience this may cause you and I thank you for your support of Military Brats Online.

I never really thought about the stress all the moving caused until after I was married with children. I see my kids in their 20's who have had some of the same friends since pre-school.

The toughest time for me was when my Dad retired. I was a sophomore in high school. There were a few kids in the high school from the nearby Army Post. For the most part, however, the kids had spent their whole lives together. When I look back to my last three years in high school I realize that I continued the trend established within my military experience by changing to a different group of friends every year. I guess it was a way of re-enacting the military life.

Military life is most definitely an adventure as it occurs. We have all seen things in our lives that those around us will never see. We have also learned amazing coping skills. The military is also one of the most stressful lives imaginable.

Like all of you I can make "friends" in a flash, but none of them are close. No matter how long I have lived in my current house (22 years) I am unable to get past the feeling that making close friends is not wise. I am afraid that if I did, one of us would have to move.

Adventurous- yes
Stressful- to the max
