Serving Military Brats Since 1995!"

Check out our NEW website . . .

Our "new" and improved website has everything you need to re-connect with your Military Brats friends and heritage.
"Invisible No More."

|

Whether you have just found the Sound Off! message boards or have been a long-time member,
please consider our NEW website, Military Brats Online.
The new website has been getting rave reviews from everyone--it's a real online community and much closer to the
original vision I had for bringing Military Brats together.
Military Brats Online has discussion groups and personal blogs, your own photo gallery,
private messages, Chat room and MANY other exciting features,
including advanced searching so it's easy to find fellow Military Brats.
But what about Sound Off!--Will it remain available?
The Sound Off! message boards will remain active for a while, but will be archived later this year. We have not been able to integrate the
Sound Off! system into the new website as the two website systems are not compatible.
Once you join Military Brats Online, you can go to "groups" and copy over as many of your discussion messages as you would like and keep the
discussion threads going. Remember, your user ID and password for Sound Off! will NOT automatically work on the new website. You will need to sign up on Military Brats Online
and create a new profile.
While Sound Off! has been very popular with many Military Brats, it has been a very limited message board
system and the new website will offer far more features for re-connecting. I believe you will see that in the
long run, the new website is a huge improvement and it is highly interactive.
I am truly sorry for any inconvenience this may cause you and I thank you for your support of Military Brats Online.

Quote: ...what troubled you most about graduating college wasn't becoming a real adult, it was that your ID card expired and you became a civilian.
|
...when asked "Why in the world did you marry an airman?" you grin and reply, "Because I didn't want to give up my ID card."

Quote: you might be a military brat if you call grocery shopping "going to the commissary" and going shopping as "going to the BX" (or "PX" if you are army).
You also might be a military brat if you still say, "yes, sir" to your father.
|
... and "yes, Ma'am" to your mom.
... And if it was easy for you to say "yes, sir" or "yes, ma'am" to your military instructors, even on the first day of basic training.
Also, you might be a military brat if...you are uncomfortable when your father-in-law asks you NOT to call him "sir!"

know more about the rest of the world and the states that you have lived in, than the state that you were born in and that the rest of your family (grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins) has lived in all their lives. people think that you are bragging when you say that you grew up in Europe, or when you relate something that happend to you when you were overseas. They just don't get that you are just telling them about your self.

Quote: Because those are our 'homes'. All we knew growing up. I have always thought it would be 'kewl' if they would take the bases they have shut down and made them into retirement communities for us brats and our military parents. Keep the PX and commissary for us, etc. That way, we'd have our 'roots' that we miss in the civilian world.
Thanks so much for the post and I envy you living in 'base housing'!

Boy do I agree with this. Wouldn't it be great to be able to live with people who have don't think your crazy for some of the things you've done and still do on occassion. Koffee Klatches would never be the same. Great idea. Sara

Fort Dodge, Kansas, has been turned into a state VA home. It is worth a visit, it is wonderful. I married a military man, and when we get old, it is my idea of heaven. Yes, there is a clinic in the old clinic, a store in the old PX, a place to eat in the old mess hall. Heaven for us brats!!
I was born at Bolling AFB and spent the first 18 yrs of my life as a brat; half in the western US, half in Europe. I thought it was normal. Enlisted straight out of HS (unusual still in the early 70s, especially as Vietnam was still an issue). After one hitch, worked in the Pentagon as a civilian; married an Army officer, and kept on going. Civilian life for the past decade has not measured up ... kinda dull. Oh, well; we can't be young forever!
