Military Brats Online

Our "new" and improved website has everything you need
to re-connect with your Military Brats friends and heritage.

"Invisible No More."

Sound Off!
Whether you have just found the Sound Off! message boards or have been a long-time member, please consider our NEW website, Military Brats Online.

The new website has been getting rave reviews from everyone--it's a real online community and much closer to the original vision I had for bringing Military Brats together.

Military Brats Online has discussion groups and personal blogs, your own photo gallery, private messages, Chat room and MANY other exciting features, including advanced searching so it's easy to find fellow Military Brats.

But what about Sound Off!--Will it remain available?
The Sound Off! message boards will remain active for a while, but will be archived later this year. We have not been able to integrate the Sound Off! system into the new website as the two website systems are not compatible.

Once you join Military Brats Online, you can go to "groups" and copy over as many of your discussion messages as you would like and keep the discussion threads going. Remember, your user ID and password for Sound Off! will NOT automatically work on the new website. You will need to sign up on Military Brats Online and create a new profile.

While Sound Off! has been very popular with many Military Brats, it has been a very limited message board system and the new website will offer far more features for re-connecting. I believe you will see that in the long run, the new website is a huge improvement and it is highly interactive.

I am truly sorry for any inconvenience this may cause you and I thank you for your support of Military Brats Online.

You might be a military brat if... (Re: vann)

...you ever bivouaced in the back yard with your dad's pup tent, using those God awful itchy OD green khaki wool blankets as both mat under you and for covers. Then sneaking out late at night to visit all your friends who were also camping out. I bet I could still put up one of those pup tents!!

Yeah, I could put it up but I couldn't fit in it! We went on a "bivouac" one time at one base in Japan. Decided to go catch a movie at another base after playing on same tanks at a third base. In short, our parents had no idea where we were for a couple days. Ignorance was bliss but then they weren't concerned. Imagine allowing young kids to do that now.

That's why they call them the good ole days, lol.Wouldn't let my kids do half the things we did.Back then the world was a safer place to live.I can never remember my parents worrying about where we were or what we were doing. They didn't have to.Did hate those wool blankets tho, lol.

    What a great site!!!!

    Active Brat from 65-84
    Forever Brat 84-?

.....every June-August you get a terrible, maddening urge to re-arrange your furniture, paint your house, or move!

.....you teach your kids to always be nice to the new kid who comes in the middle of the school year, because it was you once, or twice, or more.

.....the nat.guard in the airports made you feel safe, not more nervous.

.....you thought that furniture only came from quater master

.....the question "where are you from?" becomes a conversation, not an answer.

.....you watch cnn and see generals, that you knew as captains.

.....you understand (eventually) that sometimes dads or moms HAVE to go away for a while, and they do it for you.

.....you miss the salute at the front gate when you enter a base (for us non active brats)

Re: You Might be a Military Brat if . . . (Re: vann)

. . .your first thought at the announcement of the beginning of war is for the families waiting back at home, because you know exactly what is going through their minds, and what is in their hearts!

. . .you consider a military base/post as a great field trip for students.

. . .you have to move to truly clean house, because you don't know how to avoid accumulating "junk" when you stay in one place more than 3 years.

. . .your prayers include the U. S. military every single day, even when there's nothing "official" going on in the world, militarily.

. . .you know more than one verse of the "Star-Spangled Banner."

. . .being less than 15 minutes early for an appointment means that you are late.
