We welcome articles. Whether you are an accomplished writer, or a novice, we want your Military Brat story. For your convenience, we have an Article Submission Form below, but please read our guidelines before submitting an article.
You may print the following guidelines if you are considering submitting an article to On The Move in the future.
Audience:
Readers are Military Brats, between the ages of 25 and 75 who
all share a common experience--growing up in the Military.
Article Length:
500 to 1500 words. Longer articles are welcome, provided the
are well researched and well written.
Subject Matter:
We welcome all articles which reflect growing up in the military
to dealing with separation and adjustment to civilian life. Articles
can deal with both the positive and the negative, but should be
balanced.
First person stories are acceptable and we welcome stories
covering all branches of the service, from any period.
We are especially interested in articles which look at the
historical perspective but we like stories which are honest,
heart-felt and sincere above all else.
Photographs:
We like to have photographs which either go with the article or
which can be used alone with a headline and caption.
Submissions:
1) We have a submission form below to submit your article online.
2) Send your story as an e-mail attachment.

Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: I would like to submit my story, but I am not a professional writer.
A: Many of our contributors are not professional writers. We do require
that you proofread and spellcheck all articles before submitting them
for consideration.
Q: How do I know you will publish my story?
A: We cannot guarantee any article or story will be published. We do
read and consider all stories, however time and space prevent us from
publishing everything we receive.
Q: I have a picture, but it is not scanned. Can I send it to you?
A: Yes. Send it with a SASE (Self Addressed Stamped Envelope) and
we will scan the photo and return it to you. Be sure to send it between
cardboard so it will not be damaged.
Q: What does On The Move pay for articles?
A: At this time, we do not pay for articles. If you are a beginning writer,
this publication can help you to get started and we can pay you in copies.
If you have other questions, please e-mail us: editor@militarybrats.com.
